This past November Steph and I trekked across the big blue to visit my lovely sister Joanna and her now fiancé (!) Felix.
Joanna met us at the airport and hosted us in their apartment in Munich.
As soon as we landed I had to get my favorite German dish. The simple yet delicious butterbretzel.
Butterbretzel erry day
A true power couple
This was our second time visiting Munich. Instead of stressing to see all the sights we spent the majority of our time hanging out, cooking, pretending to be art snobs and drinking wine.
Joanna refused my request for my 5th butterbretzel of the trip. However, her butternut squash soup held me over.
Ok we still had to do some München exploring

From Munich, the four of us took a train to Prague. Such a beautiful city. The architecture looked like a scene from The Nutcracker. We had a blast checking out the city, tasting absinthe and hanging out at their city center Christmas market.
Train > Plane
Hot wine with the best people
Night skylines don’t get much better than Prague
Joanna got a little pie-eyed at the absinthe tasting
And at the world famous Hemingway Bar…
Sadly this was the end of our time with Joanna and Felix. Joanna jetted off to Portugal for a school project and Felix headed back to his hospital to continue his residency.
Steph and I kept onward and upward. Our final stop would be Vienna. Yet another beautiful city. I’m going to go ahead and speak for Steph and say their Christmas markets were the highlight for us.
Hot wine at every stop
Too many treats to choose from. Notice hot wine in hand at all times
Another highlight was hiking up the south tower at St. Stephens Cathedral. Thank you Steph for nerding out on Rick Steves books and finding these fun walking tours!
From Vienna, Steph and I headed back to Munich for a night. We packed up our suitcases, shed many a tear and headed home. Check back in like 8 months for my next blog :)
